Tognum acquires Aggretech

In recent action, Tognum acquires Aggretech, a German generator set packager based in Bavaria.

Being in Canada, I wasn’t totally aware of Aggretech’s product line up, but decided I had to look up their website.

Their standard enclosed generator set packages are a beautiful product, and their testing facilities must be second to none in the world of generator packagers.

Tognum’s CEO, Joachim Coers stated that this entry into Aggretech is to expand their business in distributed energy systems.  Tognum will benefit from the the technical and system capabilities brought to the table by Aggretech.

International focus

A full 80% of Aggretechs revenue, reported to be 45 million Euros in 2011, comes from exports.

According to reports, that have provided power solutions to customers in over 60 countries around the world.

Their testing facilities can load and test generator packages at both 50Hz and 60Hz, allowing them to prove out their product in house and before any iron is shipped out the door.

From what I have seen, this is a reasonable move by Tognum for these reasons:

  • German based company
  • International cliental
  • Beautiful standardized product
  • State of the art testing facilities
  • Large testing capabilities, either 4 x 3MWe units in parallel or 2 x 6MWe units in parallel
  • Customized installation capabilities
  • A very competent core or personnel

I will be very interested in in seeing how this move plays out for Tognum.
